The NCSD community is deeply saddened by the recent loss of Jeff Fitzgerald, a valued friend, mentor, and advocate.
He was a kind, thoughtful, and intelligent man whose life was defined by service to others. As a psychologist, he dedicated his career to supporting underserved populations, bringing compassion, practicality, and a genuine respect for the dignity of every individual.
Jeff shared that commitment with our students. He cared deeply about them and approached his work with wisdom and practicality. He helped students learn, solve problems, navigate challenges, and prepare to respond to life’s inevitable stressors.
He was a great friend and mentor to many of us. His insight, kindness, and genuine care left an enduring impression on our school community.
Jeff also cared deeply about our country and its most beautiful characteristics: our diversity, our individuality, our capacity to serve, and our shared responsibility to extend understanding and charity to one another.
Jeff will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. We will carry forward the lessons he taught us through a life well lived in the service of others.
