During the week of October 26–30, 2026, NCSD celebrated Halloween Spirit Week, highlighted by a fun-filled Fall Carnival on Thursday, October 29. The festivities kicked off with a special Halloween skit in the auditorium, featuring some of our amazing NCSD staff: Dean of Students Melissa Shumate, IT User Support Specialist Eric Totty, Behavior Support Coordinator Katie Burns, Director of Language Equity Kee Lee, Staff Development Specialist Jennifer Benarth, and our talented ASL interpreters Gella Blankenship and Makayla Radford.
After the skit, everyone enjoyed a variety of Halloween games, booths, and hayrides out on the front campus lawn. It was great to see NCSD students, staff, and their families all coming together to have a fantastic time.
A big thank you to all the NCSD staff who helped make this year’s Fall Carnival such a success—including our Maintenance and Environmental Services teams who made the hayrides possible.
We also want to give a shoutout to Big Byrd’s Smokehouse BBQ and Sweet Retreat for their support, and to NCSD intern and current WPCC student Emily Elliott for capturing these wonderful moments through her photography.
Thanks to everyone who joined in the fun and helped make this week memorable!
