NCSD Superintedent Dr. Kristin Todd:
"Hello, everyone. I'm Doctor Kristin Todd and Superintendent of North Carolina School for the Deaf, NCSD. I'm excited to share some important news with you. As many of you know, and NCSD is now an independent state educational agency governed by its own board of trustees. With this new chapter comes a meaningful opportunity to define our path forward.
That path includes a bold new vision, ending language deprivation, and creating a language rich, highly effective bilingual environment for our students. Developing a cohesive strategic plan is how we will turn that vision into action.
We want our entire school community to help shape this work, including staff, students, families, board members, and community stakeholders.
Your voice matters. This plan will be built through meaningful engagement that reflects the true needs of our students and community. To support this process, we have partnered with Innivee strategies, our strategic planning partner. Beginning this fall, there will be opportunities for you to participate through surveys, focus groups, and community conversations.
We will also be collaborating closely with Western Carolina University to see you, whose team will support research efforts connected to both the strategic planning process and the development of our bilingual instructional framework. This is a significant moment in NCSD history, and I encourage each of you to get involved when the opportunity arises. Together, we will have the chance to shape a stronger future for our students in our school community."

"Hello, my name is Davin Searls and I work with Innivee Strategies. We are truly honored to be a part of this important work. Innivee strategies is a Deaf led consulting company that partners with schools for the Deaf institutions, state agencies, and nonprofit organizations across more than 25 states. This is meaningful work for us, and we have carefully designed a process that encourages participation and input from the entire school community to ensure every voice is heard.
We will provide surveys in ASL, English and Spanish, and we will facilitate focus groups to encourage brainstorming, dialog, and meaningful discussions. We will also conduct interviews with various groups within the school community, and after gathering and analyzing the data, we will develop a summary report to help guide the creation of NCSD strategic priorities between now and the fall.
Our team will be working behind the scenes to plan and prepare for this process. Please be on the lookout for opportunities to engage and participate this coming fall. I hope you all enjoy your summer and we look forward to working together when the school year begins. Thank you."
