Robotics » Overview

NCSD boasts a successful Robotics club program that has grown from 2 teams in 2014 to 9 teams in 2018.  All teams in elementary through high school accumulated many awards, including placing at regional competitions, Judge’s Awards, and Sportsmanship Awards. The high school teams presented their robots at the State Board of Education Meetings, then toured to other school campuses to show their work. The 2016 season culminated in the middle school team winning the North Carolina VEX Robotics State Championship.

NCSD hosts the Annual Foothills Regional Qualifying tournament in the fall and participates in other competitions throughout the year.

The program is also expanding beyond the field, now taking specialized programs underwater with the MATE Remote Operated Vehicles (ROV).
