Student Body Government » Overview

Students in Student Body Government develop leadership skills through advocacy for themselves and their peers.  The SBG discusses ideas, interests, and concerns in regular meetings. Also, SBG students have an opportunity to participate in biannual Junior National Association of the Deaf Conference, where they will meet other Deaf and hard of hearing students and develop the skills and values they need to become future leaders and supporters in the Deaf community.

SBG members also represent NCSD at the Capitol Hill Advocacy Day in Washington, D.C. where they participate in a legislative briefing on advocacy issues then meetings with Congressional representatives to communicate the need for improved educational outcomes for deaf and hard of hearing children nationally.
