NCSD is proud to provide opportunities for its students to participate in a variety of sports during the academic year ranging from elementary to high school.

The North Carolina School for the Deaf is a member of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association, following the requirements for all athletes and sports we field during the school year.   Each athlete must pass an annual physical before participating in any varsity sport and also meet grading requirements to be eligible to participate. For more information on requirements for athletes and sports, please go to

NCSD is also part of the Mason-Dixon Conference for all the sports we participate in.  The conference consists of eleven Deaf schools in the Southeast region of the country. We are honored to participate in three different Mason-Dixon tournaments each year in volleyball, girls basketball and boys basketball. If you are interested in learning more, please visit
